Emergency Dental Care Troy MO
If you are an experiencing a dental emergency, do not panic. Call or visit our office as soon as possible so that we can help you. In the meantime, follow these instructions:
- If the tooth is still attached at all, leave it in place.
- If the tooth is unattached but still in the mouth, have the victim hold it there until the dentist can attempt re-implantation
- If the tooth is outside of the mouth, do not let it dry out. Try to handle it as little as is possible. Avoid scrubbing it, disinfecting it, or removing any tissue that is attached to it.
- If you have recovered the tooth from the ground, rinse it off in lukewarm water. Place the tooth in a cup of milk until the dentist can examine it. If there is no milk available, place it in a cup of lukewarm water.
The faster you are able to get to our office, the better. After 30 minutes outside of the socket, the tooth’s re-implantation success rate will begin to decline. However, you can rest assured that we will do everything we can to restore your oral health, even if the tooth has been outside of the mouth for a long period of time.
